Turkmenistan, Iran to Intensify Business Ties

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi held talks on Saturday on the sidelines of 15th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization. The agenda of the talks included discussions on the prospects for Turkmen-Iranian cooperation in trade-economic sphere. The sides reaffirmed their intention to intensify business contacts, increase the bilateral trade turnover and stimulate investment activities.

The Heads of State said, given the prospects for the development of national economies, there are good conditions for increasing trade and economic relations to a qualitatively new level, expanding the range of export-import goods, the official Turkmen media reports.

Consistently pursuing the foreign policy course based on the permanent neutral status, Turkmenistan has paid special attention to developing fruitful relations with neighboring countries, including Iran, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed and said there is a strong potential for consistent expansion of an effective bilateral partnership based on the successful experience of many years of cooperation in various fields.

To this end, the sides stressed the importance of the Joint Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission and the need to more effectively use the potential of this structure.

At the end of the meeting, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi confirmed their readiness to expand constructive cooperation that fully meets the state interests and priorities of socio-economic development of friendly neighboring countries and peoples.
