The people of Independent and Neutral Turkmenistan, together with the world community, celebrated on Sunday the International Day of Neutrality.
The day started with the ceremony of laying flowers at the Monument of Neutrality, with the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the country’s official media reports.
The ceremony was also attended by the country’s parliamentarians, government officials, ambassadors of Turkmenistan in foreign countries, heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Turkmenistan, elders, representatives of public organizations and the media.
The same day, a festive event, with the participation of the Head of State, took place in Ashgabat.
In his holiday address to the people, the Turkmen President Berdimuhamedov said “I sincerely congratulate you on the International Day of Neutrality and the 26th anniversary of the adoption by the General Assembly of the United Nations of the Resolution on the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan! Neutrality is a doctrine in the name of prosperity on the planet, the consolidation of peace, friendship and benevolent relations between states and peoples, the bright future of mankind".
In addition, the Mukam Palace of the State Cultural Center in Ashgabat hosted a festive concert dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality and the 26th anniversary of the permanent neutrality status of Turkmenistan.
Festive events dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality were also held in all regions of the country.
