Turkmenistan Adopts Requirements For Operation of Domestic Websites
The website should ensure the protection of confidential information of the website user.

Government of Turkmenistan adopted uniform technical requirements for the creation and support of all Turkmen websites. The relevant document was published on the website of the Ministry of Justice of the country.

The requirements were developed to successfully implement the tasks set by the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan on the need to create websites by all institutions and organizations of the country dated February 27, 2020.

These requirements are to be met by the all government entities, institutions, enterprises and organizations, regardless of their legal form, as well as entrepreneurs who do business without the establishment of a legal entity.

Some of the design requirements in accordance with the document are that the website’s design should match the owner’s corporate design incorporate mainly bright colors. The website should have adaptive-responsive design which allow to adjust the content, navigation, and elements of the page to fit the user's screen whether it is mobile phone, tablet and digital device.

The document requires to routinely update the news section of the websites publish news only from reliable sources. If the material is taken from third-party sources, it’s source should be indicated. Copyright materials must be posted only with the consent of the author and with its signature, which will ensure copyright protection.

The document also focuses on the sharing of confidential information of website users. The website should ensure the protection of confidential information of the website user and take action against their disclosure to third parties.

Extensive section of the document focuses on technical requirements for cybersecurity of national sites. It is described in detail how the site should be protected and what tools should be used to avoid possible cyber threats.

The requirements were developed and adopted by the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
