President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the online cabinet meeting on Friday approved the program for the development of transport diplomacy for 2022-2025.
The Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Jus, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the State Border Service and the Central Bank are designated as coordinating bodies for the implementation of the Program for the Development of Transport Diplomacy of the President of Turkmenistan for 2022-2025.
The project of the document was presented by Deputy Chairman of Cabinet, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
In his briefing, Meredov said the document provides for strategically important measures aimed at the comprehensive modernization of the material and technical base of all types of transport in Turkmenistan, the formation of a modern specialized infrastructure, and the further strengthening of Turkmenistan's position as a regional center of international transport and transit corridors.
The program includes such areas as the development of the legal framework in transport sphere and international cooperation in this sphere, the preparation of the Road Transport Code of Turkmenistan, the effective continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation with international organizations.
The document also provides for the work on the accession of Turkmenistan to the Intergovernmental Commission of the International Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA), the study of the possibilities of using a universal digital solution in the development of multimodal transportation – the Global Transit Document.
During the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also signed the decree on the ratification of certain international documents between Turkmenistan and foreign states.
