At the beginning of the International Conference Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Shahym Abdrakhmanov read out a welcome address of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the participants, the online newspaper of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan reports.
In his address, the Head of State said Turkmenistan is known as a reliable partner on the world stage, adding that therefore, the forum is attended by many foreign companies that, together with the Turkmen specialists, will have the opportunity to share experience accumulated over the years and exchange views on new areas of cooperation.
The Turkmen President expressed confidence that the international investment forum would become an effective platform for exchange of experience between domestic and foreign experts, establishment of large-scale cooperation and discussion of mutually beneficial projects.
The President also drew attention to the fact that for the development of one of the leading sectors of the national economy – fuel and energy complex – large-scale projects are implemented in the country. The interest of foreign partners is due, first of all, to the large-scale reforms implemented in the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan and the high level of cooperation with the world's leading oil and gas companies, President Berdimuhamedov said.
Representatives of major energy companies including CNPC, SOCAR, Dragon Oil, TAPI, Mitro International, Westport Trading Europe Limited, Haldor Topsoe, NAPECO and Yug-Neftegaz are on the list of delegates to the event held on-site and online.
International energy organizations – Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), International Energy Agency (IEA), French Gas Association and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) – also participate in the conference. Representatives of financial and banking institutions – the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and the Abu Dhabi Development Fund – also take part in the discussions.
The two-day forum will consider such topics as the future of energy, the role of Turkmenistan in ensuring regional energy security, opportunities for new era energy investment projects, the role of financial institutions in supporting sustainable energy, innovative technologies and know-how and the production of hydrocarbons and reducing associated gas emissions and international cooperation in the field of refining and transportation of hydrocarbons.
The Forum's main objectives are to promote the dynamic development of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan, its diversification, modernization, expansion of export opportunities in the world market, attracting foreign capital, and the search, study and development of the country’s oil and gas fields onshore and offshore in the Caspian Sea.
