Turkmenistan: Amount of Cashless Transactions in Jan-Feb Exceeds 1.71B Manats
The total volume of non-cash payments made through terminals during the period neared 1.6 billion manats.

The total amount of non-cash transactions via bank cards in Turkmenistan in January and February of 2022 exceeded 1.71 billion manats. According to the Central Bank's Banking Automation Department, the total volume of non-cash payments made through terminals during the period neared 1.6 billion manats.

According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the number of payments made in the two-month period through the Digital Commerce system exceeded 78.86 million manats, and through the Mobile Bank system – nearly 1.5 million manats.

At the same time, the total amount of non-cash payments made through ATMs exceeded 33.94 million manats and through the Internet Bank system – nearly 176 thousand manats.

In addition, according to the bank, more than 4.62 million manats of non-cash payments were carried out through the Halkbank Terminal system.

During the online cabinet meeting in December last year, President of Turkmenistan signed a Resolution on the approval of the Program to reduce the impact on the country's economy of complications encountered in the global economy, and the stable development of the national economy in 2022.

During the meeting, the Head of Turkmenistan also signed Resolution allowing the Central Bank and authorized credit institutions to postpone until January 1, 2023 the payment deadlines of the balances of ministries, sectoral departments and khyakimliks unpaid as of January 1, 2022 on allocated loan funds, as well as unpaid interest rates calculated in the previous period.
