President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov inspected the progress of construction works at the new modern administrative center of Ahal province on Thursday.
On the site, Charymyrat Purchekov, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government for the industrial and construction complex, briefed the Head of State on the ongoing construction works, the country's official media reports.
The Turkmen President then got acquainted with the designs of the facilities to be built on the territory of the new provincial center. Among them were draft designs of stores and service houses that will be located in the seven-storey 28-, 56- and 42-apartment, nine-storey 54-apartment, five-storey 30- and 40-apartment buildings.
The Head of State also held off-site cabinet meeting at the construction site.
In his briefing, the Head of the Directorate of Facilities Under Construction of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture Deryageldi Orazov said this important construction project, which is one of the largest in the region, will be implemented in two stages.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of construction materials and failure to meet the deadlines. Addressing the Vice-Premier Purchekov, he demanded to take measures in order to accelerate the construction pace and put the facilities into operation in accordance with the established schedule.
The meeting also featured reports of other vice-premiers and heads of departments. Addressing the participants, the Head of State gave specific instructions to the officials, stressing the importance of the high quality of the facilities under construction and the timeliness of the implementation of the construction works.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said the construction of the new city is nearing completion, and a very important, second stage of its construction, which provides for the improvement of the city and the settlement of its residents, begins.
Addressing the Chairman of the Mejlis chamber of Milli Gengesh Gulshat Mammedova, the Head of State raised the matter of choosing a worthy name for the future city and suggested that this matter be put up for public discussion.
The construction of the new administrative center of Ahal province was launched in April 2019.
