Top Turkmen Diplomat Holds Talks in Abu Dhabi

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov met on Saturday with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Minister for Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

A Turkmen delegation led by the head of the Foreign Ministry was sent to Abu Dhabi on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.

During the talks, the sides discussed topical matters of the Turkmen-Emirati cooperation. The meeting participants emphasized that regular high-level contacts give a significant impetus to the further development of bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Highlighting the effectiveness of bilateral trade-economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UAE, the parties considered issues of expanding partnerships in the investment, financial and banking sectors.

The Turkmen Foreign Minister also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The ministers discussed a number of key issues in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian fields.

The top diplomats of Turkmenistan and the UAE reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries. The talks also focused on interaction within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and OIC. They emphasized the importance of mutual support for international undertakings and initiatives in these structures.

Focusing on the challenges and threats of our time, the parties stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation in countering the global pandemic.

Trade-economic relations between the two countries were discussed in detail. A constructive exchange of views took place regarding the further implementation of previously signed documents and reached agreements. The ministers spoke in favor of supporting the active work of the Joint Committee for Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UAE.
