Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, was honored with several awards on Thursday.
The award ceremony took place on the sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian countries and the Russian Federation in the conference hall of the Congress Center in Ashgabat, the official Turkmen media reports.
During the meeting, the Head of Elders Council of Azerbaijan Eldar Allahyar oglu Guliyev said the council unanimously decided to award the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the Golden Order of Honorary Elder. He presented the Order and a corresponding certificate.
The Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Azerbaijan Dunyasy International Magazine, Chairman of the Dede Korkut National Foundation Eldar Ismail oglu Ismayilov awarded Gurbaguly Berdimuhamedov with the National Prize "For the Sake of Peace on Earth" and the Golden Order of "Ulu Türk".
The Secretary General of the Council of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly announced the deicision to award the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with a jubilee medal established on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
Expressing gratitude for the awards, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedova said he is glad to welcome representatives of the fraternal peoples to Turkmenistan, thanking them for accepting the invitation to visit the country.
