Turkmen President Congratulates New UAE President Sheikh Mohammed

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent congratulations to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his election as President of the United Arab Emirates, the official Turkmen media reports.

“We highly appreciate the fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates,” President Berdimuhamedov said in his message, expressing firm confidence that, thanks to joint efforts, bilateral relations would continue to develop in the interests of the countries’ peoples.

The Head of Turkmenistan expressed sincere wishes to President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for good health, happiness and success in high public office.

Earlier on Saturday, the UAE’s Federal Supreme Council elected the 61-year-old Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as President of the UAE.

The previous UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan died on Friday at the age of 73 after a serious illness.

On behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a representative delegation led by the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Abu Dhabi on Saturday to participate in commemorative events in connection with the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also sent congratulations to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his election as the UAE President.
