The memory of late leader of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was honored in Turkmenistan on Friday with the holding of sadaqah meal at Gokdepe Mosque in Ahal province and Koshi Mosque in Ashgabat. The events were held with the participation of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh.
At the mosques, the prayers were offered for the late UAE President, the official Turkmen media reports.
At Geoktepe Mosque, the Chairman of the halk Maslakhaty talked to the Ambassador of the UAE to Turkmenistan about holding of memorial events. The envoy expressed gratitude for the attitude toward the memory of the late UAE President and said this decision is a symbol of high humanity.
Here the Mufti of Turkmenistan offered prayers in memory of the late UAE President. On behalf of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov once again expressed condolences to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE announced a 40-day period of mourning and three-day halt of activity in all ministries and the business sector as well, with flags flying at half-staff.
On Saturday, the UAE’s Federal Supreme Council elected the 61-year-old Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as President of the UAE.
On behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a representative delegation led by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Abu Dhabi last week to participate in commemorative events in connection with the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
