Turkmenistan-Qatar Business Forum Discusses Boosting Trade, Investment Cooperation
Doha, Qatar

The Turkmenistan-Qatar Business Forum, held via video link on Wednesday, discussed ways to enhance commercial and industrial cooperation, and investment opportunities available in the two countries, the Qatar News Agency reports.

The Turkmen side at the forum was chaired by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Dovletgeldi Rejepov, while the Qatari side was led by the First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari. The event was attended by a number of businesspeople and CEOs of both countries.

The forum also considered the role played by CCIs of Qatar and Turkmenistan in bringing business owners in the two countries closer and motivating them to establish alliances and partnerships that enhance trade and investment exchange.

The First Vice-Chairman of the Qatar CCI said Qatar and Turkmenistan enjoy close relations in many fields and there is a common desire from both sides towards elevating it to higher levels.

Al Kuwari indicated that despite the distinguished relations between the countries, their commercial and economic ties are still below expectations although they own tremendous potential and resources, adding that they are key players in the global oil and LNG markets.

"The Qatari market is promising and highly welcomes all foreign investors. So, I will take this opportunity to invite Turkmen companies to invest in Qatar and benefit from the abundance of opportunities available in all sectors," Al Kuwari said, adding that Qatar has become a focus for global investments, especially with the approach of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Al Kuwari also confirmed the Chamber's interest to encourage Qatari investors to invest in Turkmenistan and explore the investment opportunities available there.

Dovletgeldi Rejepov thanked Qatar Chamber for holding this forum, stressing the depth of relations between Qatar and Turkmenistan in a number of fields.

"This forum offers a good opportunity for both sides to explore new aspects for cooperation between the Qatari and Turkmen private sectors in numerous fields such as agriculture, energy, technology, food security, and others," Rejepov added.

As for Turkmenistan's investment climate, Rejepov said his country is a secure and appropriate place for investment, where it offers an advanced infrastructure.

He pointed out that the Turkmen CCI welcomes cooperation with the Qatari CCI and expressed its preparedness to provide all required data and information to Qatari investors who are willing to invest in Turkmenistan.

Dovletgeldi Rejepov stated that Turkmen businesses are interested in exporting their products to Qatar, especially the agricultural products which are of high quality and at reasonable prices. He also highlighted his country's interest to attract Qatari investments in different sectors.

Such business meeting between Turkmenistan and Qatar was held online in April last year.
