The creation and development of necessary conditions for attracting investments in the economy of Turkmenistan was one of the topics discussed during the political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia in Ashgabat on Thursday.
The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Berdiniyaz Matiyev, and the Saudi delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Abdulkarim El Khereiji, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.
The talks also discussed the implementation of infrastructure projects and production facilities in Turkmenistan. The participants stated that there are great opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in areas such as petrochemicals and gas chemistry. In this regard, they underlined the value of the accumulated experience of cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Saudi Fund for Development.
On the sidelines of the political consultations, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Saudi Arabia also met with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. Foreign Minister Meredov informed Waleed Abdulkarim El Khereiji that Turkmenistan had decided to support Saudi Arabia's candidacy for hosting the World Exhibition EXPO 2030 and is ready to assist in preparing for this major global event.
