Turkmenistan intends to take part in international tourism exhibitions to be held in Japan’s capital Tokyo and Miami in the United States in September 2022.
Mahrijemal Mammedova, the Deputy Chairperson of the Turkmen Government for culture and mass media, briefed on these plans during the online cabinet meeting hosted by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday.
The Vice-Premier’s report focused on the activities to develop tourism in Turkmenistan, the country’s official media reports.
At present, there are about 70 private tourism companies operating in the country and the state policy in this sphere is implemented by the Ministry of Culture, Mammedova informed.
She added that in order to create modern domestic tourism structure corresponding to the level of top countries in tourism, the Government envisages measures aimed at the growth of private enterprises in the industry and the expansion of their opportunities.
Private specialized enterprises intend to develop new tourism routes related to the organization of cruises between the Caspian littoral states, according to the briefing.
The Vice Premier also announced of plan to participate in the conference of Caspian countries’ ministers on cooperation in tourism between the countries of the region to be held in Gulistan province of Iran in October this year.
Turkmenistan also aims to hold an international conference in 2023 to widely promote the rich national historical and cultural heritage and to reveal the tourism potential of the country.
Following the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of development of the national tourism industry, and realization of its potential.
The Government meeting also considered a number of other issues and adopted documents aimed at the development of the domestic industries.
