Biden Nominates Elizabeth Rood as New US Ambassador to Turkmenistan
Elizabeth Rood currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Moscow, Russia.

The President of the United States Joe Biden on Wednesday has nominated a career foreign service officer Elizabeth Rood as the new US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan, the White House said in its press release.

Elizabeth Rood currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Moscow, Russia. Before that, she served as a Faculty Advisor at the US Army War College. Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia, much of that time as Chargé d’Affaires.

She also held different posts in the US diplomatic missions in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Germany, and Austria, as well as at the US Department of State.

Rood is the recipient of several State Department performance awards, including three Senior Foreign Service Performance Awards. A native of North Carolina, she speaks French, Russian, German, Pashto, Dari, and Georgian.

Elizabeth Rood will assume office after confirmation by the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
