The Ministerial Transport Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries held in the Turkmenistan’s Avaza National Tourist Zone on August 15-16 resulted in the adoption of the Final Statement.
The Jointly adopted Final Statement was prepared on the basis of speeches of heads of relevant ministries and agencies, preliminary documents and discussions during the plenary sessions, the official Turkmen media reported on Tuesday.
The document emphasizes the importance of strengthening transport connectivity for sustainable post-COVID-19 recovery of landlocked countries and accelerating the implementation of the Vienna Program of Action for the remaining period.
The document also stresses the importance of continuing the Ashgabat Process on sustainable transport laid down at the end of the First Global Transport Conference, holding relevant multilateral consultations, capacity building and educational activities under the Ashgabat Process.
The forum participants also stated the importance of resolving transport, customs, visa and other trade and transport issues to facilitate the practical implementation of international transport and transit corridors.
