Uzbekistan imported 11.5 thousand tons of cement from Turkmenistan in January-July of 2022, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan announced on Monday.
Turkmenistan thus became the fourth largest supplier of cement to the neighboring country.
In the first seven months of this year, Uzbekistan has imported a total of 1.4 million tons of cement for $52.5 million. The Uzbek State Statistics Committee stated that the volume of cement imports decreased by 421 thousand tons compared to the same period last year.
Besides Turkmenistan, the major suppliers of cement to Uzbekistan in the seven-month period were Tajikistan (533 thousand tons), Kyrgyzstan (385 thousand tons), Kazakhstan (353 thousand tons), Iran (6.7 thousand tons), China (1.4 thousand tons) and Russia (782 tons).
Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with Turkmenistan in the first seven months of this year amounted to $485.8 million, an increase of 8.5% compared to the same period of last year.
