The interaction of Turkmenistan with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is of particular importance, and the country's international initiatives correspond to the goals and objectives of the SCO, the SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming during a meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Samarkand, the country’s official media reported on Thursday.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan has gained extensive experience in the field of energy and is ready to share it, as well as participate in joint work on the implementation of specific energy projects with the SCO member states.
The Head of Turkmenistan stated that the implementation of such projects is an example of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the SCO states in the energy sector, proposing to consider the possibility of creating an “ad hoc” working group on energy issues between Turkmenistan and the interested SCO member-states.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also proposed to create a temporary Coordinating Council to ensure coordinated and efficient work in the field of transport.
Secretary-General Zhang Ming said the SCO highly appreciates the far-sighted and responsible approach of Turkmenistan to the issues of expanding and strengthening cooperation with the organization member states, expressing the intention to continue to work in close contact with Turkmenistan.
In conclusion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming expressed confidence that the next SCO Summit would be another important step towards further optimization of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the SCO countries.
