President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday met with President of Russia’s Tatarstan Republic Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in Ashgabat to attend the celebrations on occasion of the 31st anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, the official media of Turkmenistan.
The Tatar President conveyed to President Berdimuhamedov the greetings from the Russian President Vladimir Putin, congratulated him and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, on the 31st anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, and addressed best wishes to Turkmen people.
Thanking for the congratulations and kind words, the Head of Turkmenistan conveyed his greetings to the President of Russia.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on priority issues of bilateral cooperation, covering a wide range of areas and successfully developing within the framework of a constructive interstate dialogue between Turkmenistan and Russia.
According to the state media report, the long-term cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan is an example of an effective mutually beneficial partnership. Trade and economic ties, which have recently been given a new impetus, occupy an important place on the agenda of diverse bilateral cooperation. Directions for further building up partnerships have been outlined, and direct contacts between business structures are developing dynamically.
At the end of the meeting, expressing confidence that the high level of mutual understanding inherent in bilateral relations would continue to serve as a solid basis for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation across its entire spectrum, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Rustam Minnikhanov wished each other health and success, and wished the fraternal Turkmen and the Tatar peoples – well-being and prosperity.
