Turkmen Delegation Visits Strasbourg For Meetings at Council of Europe
The program of the visit includes a discussion of cooperation with the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) in Central Asia and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

A delegation of Turkmenistan on Monday started a four-day working visit to Strasbourg in France to meet with representatives of the Council of Europe to discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation under the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023, the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan said in its press release.

The delegation consists of representatives of the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Supreme Court and the Prosecutor General's Office of Turkmenistan.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation held meetings at the Council of Europe headquarters to discuss relations between the Council and non-member countries, technical cooperation between the Council and Central Asian countries, promotion of a common legal space-accession to the Council of Europe Convention open to non-member countries.

The program of the visit includes a discussion of cooperation with the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) in Central Asia and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Besides, the Turkmen delegation will consider the issues of cooperation within the framework of the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) in Central Asia, as well as opportunities for cooperation within the project on Promoting transparency and action against economic crime (CA TAEC).

The Council of Europe is an international organization that promotes cooperation among its members, states and European countries, in the fields of legal standards, human and civil rights and freedoms, democratic development, the rule of law and cultural interaction.

The Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023 was developed in the framework of cooperation between the European Union, the Council of Europe and the Central Asian countries. It aims to strengthen human rights, the rule of law and democracy in the countries of Central Asia in line with European and other international standards.
