Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, on Wednesday during his visit to new administrative center of Ahal province that is under construction, inspected the plans for the construction of a new mosque, the country’s official media reports.
At the construction site of the city, Deryageldi Orazov, the Chairman of the State Committee for Construction of the new city and Shamukhammet Durdyliyev, the Mayor of the new city, briefed the Halk Maslakhaty Chairman on the construction plans of the new mosque.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that Islam is an integral part of the cultural values of the people, and stressed that all construction works, indicating the commitment of the Turkmen people to noble principles, must be carried out in accordance with modern requirements.
The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman stated that the consultations should be first held with the clergy and respected elders to start the mosques construction and determining the location of its mihrab – a niche in the inner wall of the mosque, indicating the direction towards Mecca.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that every year on October 6, the country celebrates the Memorial Day, and on October 7, in connection with the choosing of the site for the construction of the new mosque, a festive sadaqah will be given at the expense of royalties of his works.
During his visit to new city in mid-September, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov inspected the scheme of the area, where the new Health Path will be laid.
