Kyrgyzstan will import 2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity from Turkmenistan in 2023.
The Kyrgyz delegation will visit Turkmenistan on October 12-14 to sign the agreement on supply of electricity, the online news outlet Tazabek cites Acting Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Talaibek Ibrayev as saying during the session of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Kyrgyz parliament, on Thursday.
“In addition, next year we will import 600 million kWh from brotherly Kazakhstan," Ibrayev added.
The country will import Turkmen electricity in transit through Uzbekistan. An agreement with Uzbekistan on the transit of 2 billion kWh of Turkmen electricity has been prepared, Talaibek Ibrayev stated.
Turkmenistan has been exporting electricity to Kyrgyzstan since August 2021.
