Turkmenistan and Austria will hold a session of the joint economic commission, the Trend news agency reported on Sunday with reference to a statement by Gabriele Juen, Spokesperson of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria, head of Department for Press and Information.
"The 11th meeting of the Joint Austrian-Turkmen Economic Commission will be held in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat at the end of November this year. On this occasion, a delegation of Austrian business circles will visit Turkmenistan, and we hope this meeting will give a new impetus to our bilateral economic agenda," Gabriele Juen told Trend.
She stressed that despite considerable geographic distance, friendly contacts between Austria and Turkmenistan yield good results in different fields.
"It is important to actively counteract the negative effects associated with the downward trend of the global economy. This also applies to our economic relations with Turkmenistan, and this is one of the reasons why we are holding a meeting of the bilateral economic commission in Ashgabat later this year," Gabriele Juen added.
During the visit of Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria Michael Linhart to Ashgabat last November, bilateral meetings were held between the heads and representatives of a number of government agencies and business circles of Turkmenistan and Austria.
