Turkmen President Meets Chair of Azerbaijan’s Parliament in Ashgabat
The Head of Turkmenistan emphasized that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have enormous resource, economic, transport and logistics potential.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Wednesday in Ashgabat met with the Chair of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova, the official Turkmen media reports.

The meeting noted with satisfaction that the views of the two countries are close or similar on issues of international policy and interregional relations, in particular those related to ensuring global peace and security, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

"Negotiations with Azerbaijani partners are always distinguished by a constructive and friendly atmosphere, special warmth. They are characterized by deep content, mutual understanding and full trust, as well as commitment to high humanistic ideals," President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The Head of Turkmenistan emphasized that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have enormous resource, economic, transport and logistics potential. The Turkmen President and the Milli Majlis head highly appreciated the high level of the interstate dialogue, expressing confidence in further intensification of the long-standing successful partnership built on the existing potential, national interests and development priorities.

The Chair of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan then held a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of the Turkmenistan’s bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, at the Oguzkent hotel in Ashgabat.

The sides exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan in the fields of transport and logistics, energy, agro-industry and the textile industry with the participation of the parliamentary delegations of the two countries.

The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman highlighted cooperation between the legislative bodies as one of the key vectors of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations, noted that the two countries' parliaments operate Friendship Groups, and suggested intensifying contacts in this direction.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov then presented the Order of Turkmenistan "Hyzmatdaşlygy ösdürmäge goşandy üçin" (For Contribution to Development of Cooperation) to Chair of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova on behalf of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
