Turkmenistan, Japan Work on Expanding Cooperation in Infrastructure Field
The document was signed at the end of the meeting between the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Yasutoshi Nishimura.

A Memorandum on Cooperation in the Field of Infrastructure between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan was signed on Friday in Tokyo.

The document was signed at the end of the meeting between the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Yasutoshi Nishimura, according to the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Ministers of Japan.

The meeting took place within the framework of Turkmen delegation’s visit to Japan on December 21-24.

The sides stated the strategic, sustainable and long-term economic partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan, a striking example of which are successfully implemented large-scale projects for construction of enterprises in the oil-gas and gas-chemical industries.

The sides discussed the possibility of updating the Roadmap for cooperation in the field of infrastructure in Turkmenistan and supplementing it with new relevant projects.

In addition, the Turkmen side stressed its interest in studying Japan's experience in green and hydrogen energy and in creating modern high-tech industries focused on manufacturing competitive products.

The parties also considered the topic of attracting Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises to do business in Turkmenistan and, respectively, Turkmen enterprises to do business in Japan.

On the same day, the Turkmen delegation held a meeting with Akihiko Tanaka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Turkmen Foreign Minister held talks with Ministry of Digital Reforms of Japan Taro Kono.

On Friday, the ministers of foreign affairs of the countries of Central Asia, who arrived to participate in the 9th Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asia+Japan Dialogue, met with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan.
