The visit of President of Turkmenistan to China Serdar Berdimuhamedov will see the signing of a package of bilateral documents, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov briefed during the online cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the official Turkmen media reports.
The report of Rashid Meredov focused on preparations for the forthcoming state visit of Turkmen President to China, which will take place on January 5-6.
The Foreign Minister Meredov stated that the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the states of the world, including the Asian region, is one of the main directions of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan, adding that China occupies a special place in this direction.
Following the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the exceptional productivity of the long-term Turkmen-Chinese cooperation, which, thanks to the efforts of the parties, has been given a strategic character.
The Head of State emphasized the importance of the upcoming high-level talks in Beijing, designed to give a powerful new impetus to the further development of the multifaceted Turkmen-Chinese partnership and gave the Vice-premier relevant instructions.
According to the data issued by General Administration of Customs of China, in January-November period of last year, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and China amounted to more than $10.12 billion, a 53.2 percent year-on-year jump. The major component of Turkmenistan's exports to China is natural gas delivered through pipelines.
