Turkmen-Russian  Business Forum Starts in Ashgabat
The forum included meetings between the ministries and departments of the two countries.

A Turkmen-Russian business forum is held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat on January 19-20, the official Turkmen media reported on Thursday.

A representative delegation of the Russian Federation headed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in the Turkmen capital to attend the business meeting. The high-ranking guests include President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who is on a working visit to Turkmenistan, and heads of a number of other regions of the Russian Federation. The delegation also includes heads and leading specialists of government agencies, ministries, public institutions and non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, large companies and enterprises.

Turkmenistan is represented by several Deputy Prime Ministers, heads of ministries and sectoral agencies, state concerns, associations, committees, banks, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and a number of universities of the country.

In the first half of the day, roundtable meetings were held to discuss new opportunities for cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation and construction production, innovative and information technology, as well as trends and ways of bilateral cooperation in the transport-logistics sector. The Turkmen-Russian cooperation among educational institutions were discussed in detail.

The business forum continued with speeches by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and heads of the Russian government agencies.

During his speech, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov thanked his Russian partners for accepting the invitation to participate in the forum.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin welcomed the forum participants and guests and expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the warm welcome and hospitality on the Turkmen soil. In addition, Mikhail Mishustin emphasized that this business event will help establish new ties between the two countries, and launch many promising projects.

The forum also included meetings between the ministries and departments of the two countries.

The Turkmen-Russian business forum discussed important issues of mutual cooperation in a number of areas, such as transport-logistics, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, scientific-educational, construction and production. The visit of the representative delegation led by Russian Prime Minister to Turkmenistan continues.
