The 26th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in Tashkent on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan announced on Twitter.
The event was attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, ECO Secretary General Khusrav Noziri, as well as heads of specialized agencies, regional institutions and affiliated bodies of the ECO.
The delegation of Turkmenistan was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.
The meeting participants discussed a wide range of issues to improve the efficiency of interaction between the ECO member states in the areas of trade, investment, food security, ecology, agriculture, and transport corridors, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
During the event, the heads of the foreign ministries made proposals for the further development of economic ties in the ECO space.
As a result of the meeting, the Tashkent Communiqué was adopted, which, at the suggestion of Kazakhstan, provides for the development of interaction between the ECO and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
The ECO is a regional interstate economic organization founded in 1985 by the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East.
