Turkmenistan, Korea Hold Activities on Establishing Cooperation in Shipbuilding
The Turkmen delegation was also introduced to the processes of shipbuilding at the shipyard of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).

Representatives of Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Transport) Agency, during their business trip to Busan city of Republic of Korea on January 15-24, participated in a number of activities related to establishment of bilateral cooperation in the sphere of shipbuilding between Turkmenistan and South Korea.

The trip is carried out on the invitation of the Korean side to implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI) and Turkmenistan’s Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC).

Within the framework of visit, Turkmen officials held a meeting with representatives of KOMERI, discussing main directions of cooperation in shipbuilding area. Türkmendeňizderýaýollary representatives also visited the regional centers of KOMERI.

The Turkmen delegation was also introduced to the processes of shipbuilding at the shipyard of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). DSME is one of the largest shipbuilders in Korea. Founded in 1973, it builds various types of ships, including dry-cargo ships, ferries, container ships and tankers.

Within the framework of the visit, the Turkmen officials informed of the activities of the Balkan shipyard.

They additionally held a meeting with representatives of consulting company Movena. The Movena representatives said that they have carefully analyzed available information about the Balkan shipyard and are ready to cooperate in the start of shipbuilding and shipyard management at the plant.

At the end of the working visit, the sides reaffirmed that they would establish cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in training shipbuilding specialists and improving the production of the plant.
