President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during his speech at an expanded meeting of the country's Cabinet of Ministers on Friday informed of the major infrastructure and social facilities that will be commissioned this year.
According to the Head of State, the first phase of a new modern administrative center of Ahal province – Arkadag city, one of the largest projects in the region, and new villages in Kopetdag and Ovadandepe gengeshliks of Gokdepe district, as well as a modern stable designed for housing 600 Akhal-Teke horses will be commissioned this year, according to the country’s official media.
This year will also see the commissioning of high-voltage overhead power lines Ahal-Balkan and Balkan-Dashoguz, Tejen-Mary section of Ashgabat-Turkmenebat highway, 15 secondary schools and 3 kindergartens and considerable funds will be allocated for the construction of roads, communications systems, water, gas and power supplies, and sewage plants.
This year, at the expense of all sources of financing 1 million 58.5 thousand square meters of housing will open for people in Turkmenistan. Also, a number of facilities, such as a building complex of the Academy of Public Service under the President of Turkmenistan, 23 residential buildings in Parahat-7 and a water treatment facility with the capacity of 150 thousand cubic meters of drinking water will be completed in Ashgabat.
Saying that a large-scale program was adopted for the current year, President Berdimuhamedov informed that 37.4 billion manats will be invested in the country's economy, including 20.8 billion manats for the construction of industrial facilities, 16.6 billion manats for construction of social facilities.
The Investment Program will launch the construction of a number of buildings and facilities in the capital and regions to improve the social and living conditions of the population. For example, this year will see the start of the construction of the Ashgabat International Pediatrics Center, Dentistry Center, International Scientific Clinical Center of Oncology, and Culture Center with 4,000 seats.
During the meeting the Head of State approved the Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2023, which is aimed at increasing the country’s GDP by 6.5 percent this year.
