President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent message of condolences to President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon over numerous human casualties, injuries and destruction as a result of avalanches in the country’s Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province, the official Turkmen media reported on Thursday.
President Berdimuhamedov also expressed words of sympathy and support on behalf of the people and government of Turkmenistan and on his own behalf to the families and friends of the victims at this difficult moment and also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
According to the latest report by the Committee on Emergency Situations of Tajikistan, the avalanches that started on Wednesday morning killed 17 people in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province.
During the past days, 69 avalanches were recorded on the territory of Tajikistan.
