Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, has met with a member of the Sheikh family of the State of Qatar Sheikh Faisal bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Thani in Ashgabat on Monday, the official Turkmen media reports.
Sheikh Faisal bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Thani expressed gratitude to the Halk Maslahaty Chairman Halk for the meeting and conveyed greetings from Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Expressing gratitude for the kind words, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent his best wishes to the Emir and the people of Qatar, noting that Turkmenistan is always ready for a comprehensive and mutually beneficial partnership with the Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar.
At the meeting, the sides stated that the Turkmen-Qatari cooperation is developing in the fields of energy, transport and communications, industry, agriculture, high technology. The fuel-energy complex was singled out as one of the most promising areas of cooperation. The parties also stressed that the cultural and humanitarian spheres are an integral part of the traditionally friendly interstate dialogue.
Sheikh Faisal bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Thani invited the Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan to visit Qatar at any time convenient.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the invitation. According to the report, the dates of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
At the end of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Sheikh Faisal bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Thani expressed confidence in the further successful comprehensive development of Turkmen-Qatari cooperation.
