Leaders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member states signed the final declaration of the organization’s extraordinary summit in Turkish capital Ankara on Thursday under which the OTS countries stand in solidarity with Türkiye on rebuilding the country amid the consequences of two devastating earthquakes on February 6, Anadolu News Agency reports.
The topic of the extraordinary OTS summit was "Disaster-Emergency Management and Humanitarian Assistance".
The summit was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, and President of the incumbent OTS chair-country —Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Prime Minister of Hungary Victor Orban, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar, as well as Secretary General of the OTS Kubanychbek Omuraliev.
The declaration expresses sorrow over the deaths and devastation caused by the February disaster in southern and southeastern Türkiye.
In addition, it expresses gratitude to the member and observer states of OTS, as well as all other countries and international structures, for the immediate assistance provided to Türkiye in the wake of the disaster.
The sides also emphasized the importance of joint steps and coordination of efforts in the OTS area and the world at large in regulating steps to eliminate the consequences of natural disasters and the significance of realizing the goals envisaged in the Turkic World 2040 concept.
The next summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) will be held in Kazakhstan in October of this year.
