Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the preparations for the official visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Qatar at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held via video communication on Friday, the official Turkmen media reported.
According to the report, extensive work is being carried out in preparation for the planned official visit.
The meeting noted that five high-level visits between the two countries took place in recent years and that the regular meeting of Turkmenistan-Qatar Intergovernmental Commission is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat this year.
It is also planned to open the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Doha, Qatar within the framework of the state visit.
Turkmen President emphasized that there are great opportunities between the two countries to develop bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic relations.
President Berdimuhamedov stated that the next high-level meetings will give a new impetus to the development of traditional Turkmen-Qatari cooperation, and that a number of documents based on the outcomes of these meetings will be signed.
President of Turkmenistan instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to ensure high-level preparations for the official visit, which is of great importance for further development of effective cooperation with Middle Eastern countries.
The Cabinet of Ministers also discussed and adopted documents on the development of various sectors.
