President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Monday.
The meetings, held as part of the state visit of the Turkmen President to Qatar, were held in extended and bilateral formats, the official Turkmen media reported.
During the talks, the sides emphasized that the visit of the Turkmen President marks a new chapter in the history of interstate relations. The parties also discussed further development of the Turkmen-Qatari cooperation.
The heads of states exchanged views on the current state of bilateral cooperation, future prospects, regional and international agendas of mutual interest.
The sides agreed on the importance of strengthening bilateral legal and contractual frameworks, developing parliamentary cooperation, and mutual support for regional and international initiatives. The parties also highlighted promising areas of cooperation, such as fuel and energy complex, trade, investment, transport and communications, chemical, textile, agro-industrial complex, healthcare and high-tech systems.
During the bilateral talks between President Berdimuhamedov and Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the sides discussed the agenda of Turkmen delegation’s visit to Qatar and ways of implementing bilateral agreements that would enrich the Turkmen-Qatari relations with new meaning.
The talks were followed by signing of the bilateral documents.
Turkmen President met with leaders of leading Qatari companies and investment institutions at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel on Monday as part of his state visit to Doha.
