The United States Ambassador to Turkmenistan is seeking a skilled Residence Manager/ Chef

The United States Ambassador to Turkmenistan is seeking a skilled Residence Manager/ Chef to plan menus, prepare meals, assist with representational events, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chief of Mission Residence (CMR) located on the New Embassy Compound in Ashgabat.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordination of personal and representational social events and daily activities at the Chief of Mission Residence (CMR) at the New Embassy Compound, Ashgabat
  • Planning and preparation of menus for both private meals and official meals at the CMR
  • Maintain food preparation and storage areas in accordance with highest health standards.
  • Purchase food, beverages and supplies as agreed and necessary.  Manage food budget and supplies.
  • Maintain appropriate financial records and submit receipts and voucher information in a timely manner to the Executive Office.
  • Clean, maintain, and keep records of representational silver, china, glassware, etc. Oversee care of representational and guest linens.
  • Maintain up-to-date lists of supplies and foodstuffs, which are purchased abroad. Make recommendations to the Ambassador of additional or replacement items to order.
  • Serve as contact point for routine maintenance and supply activities communicated to Ambassador’s OMS or in absence, to Protocol.
  • Coordination of large CMR representational events, including wait staff and overall needs
  • Maintenance of representational wine and beverages inventory
  • Oversee and inspect the work of the Housekeeper daily to ensure a thorough job and cleaning is being conducted.
  • Comfortable working in a home with pets (specifically a large dog)

Assist when needed in performance of cleaning and maintenance duties, which include but are not limited to:

  • General cleaning of the house, including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of floors, and other routine chores.
  • Periodic scheduled cleaning of windows.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of guest bedrooms and bathrooms.
  • Washing, ironing, mending, etc., of clothing and linens of Ambassador and family, guests, and of representational items.
  • Upkeep of the patios and outdoor areas close to the house.

The ideal candidate will be able to provide multiple references that will confirm experience and quality of menus and meal preparation and the ability to oversee Residence Operations.  The ideal candidate must also be able to communicate comfortably in English, Russian, and Turkmen (written and verbal communication required).  Hours will be flexible and will change based on the needs of the Ambassador and scheduled events.  Candidate must be able to accommodate a shifting schedule and must be able to pass a security background check.
