Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Representative, the Programme Specialist, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Preparedness is accountable for strategic policy advice, coordination of programme planning, monitoring, and implementation, team and budget management, and partnership building with focus on climate change, disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness.
Programme Specialist, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Preparedness will be accountable for the following major duties and end results:
- Mainstreaming Climate change and DRR in programmes and strategic policy advice
- Climate change and DRR programme planning, coordination, monitoring and reporting
- Situation analysis, continuing programme relevance and scale up
- Team and budget management
- Strengthening partnerships and resource mobilization
- Emergency preparedness (and response in the event of emergency)
Minimum requirements:
- Education: Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, International Relations, Government, Public
- Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or other relevant disciplines.
Experience:
- A minimum five years of relevant professional work experience in the area of climate change, disaster risk reduction and
- natural resources management, vulnerability mapping, governance, community-based development programmes, or closely related fields. National or field work experience (for NO).
- Previous experience of working with UN or other international organizations will be an asset.
- Background/familiarity with Emergency.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English, and fluency in Russian or Turkmen is required.
Desirables:
- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
