President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Thursday took part in large-scale celebrations to mark the opening of Turkmenistan's first "smart" city, Arkadag city, the official Turkmen media reported.
According to the report, the opening ceremony of the country's first "smart city" was attended by many foreign guests. Turkmenistan's creative teams performed an inspiring musical and choreographic composition on the square near the monument "Akhan".
The Head of state and foreign guests attending the opening ceremony unveiled the monument depicting the image of Akhan the horse.
President Berdimuhamedov and the foreign guests went to the Main Square of Arkadag City where the State Flag of Turkmenistan was hoisted to the sounds of the national anthem. The opening ceremony of the "Arkadag" monument was also held during the festivities.
The city’s major project is to be implemented in two stages. To date, the first stage of construction of a modern city with 336 social, cultural and other facilities has been completed. The Turkmen President and the distinguished guests got acquainted with the a number of built specialized facilities and residential houses.
Then, following the customary Turkmen tradition, a festive sadaqah was given.
