Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks in Ankara on Thursday.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met the Turkmen leader at the state reception of the President of the Republic of Türkiye at the Aksaray Palace, where the President of Türkiye officially greeted the Turkmen leader. Later, the two leaders held high-level bilateral talks.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasised that he was delighted to receive the distinguished guest in Türkiye and that several documents would be signed during the visit, further strengthening bilateral relations. Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that his first official visit to the Republic of Türkiye would open a new page in the history of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation.
During the meeting, the heads of state of the two countries exchanged gifts. As a token of friendship, the President of Turkmenistan presented his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan with a Turkmen Shepherd dog Alabai, named "Kardash". In turn, the Turkish leader presented the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov with two puppies. The heads of state thanked each other for the token of appreciation. Afterwards, the two leaders discussed broad areas of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation in a comprehensive framework with the participation of members of bilateral and official delegations.
On the second day of his official visit to Türkiye, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremony of laying a stone at the Mausoleum of the founder and first President of the Republic of Türkiye Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (Anıtkabir) and the monument to the outstanding classic of Turkmen literature, great poet and thinker of the East Makhtumkuli Fraghi in the Turkmenistan Park. The Turkmen leader also joined the opening ceremony of the Turkmen-Turkish business forum.
