Turkmenistan, along with the cooperation of Türkiye and Azerbaijan, aims to address its natural gas supply matters by utilising the Caspian Sea in the coming period. This intention was conveyed by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, during the 10th meeting of the leaders of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana on Thursday, TASS reports.
"We have an opportunity to export Turkmen natural gas through the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, Türkiye and, in the long term - to the global markets. In this regard, I firmly believe that we will soon resolve all the necessary aspects with our brotherly countries and conduct relevant work," Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.
Turkmenistan Aims to Provide Electricity to Azerbaijan and Türkiye through Caspian Sea. The Chairman of the Нalk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan emphasised that Turkmenistan is planning to supply electricity to Azerbaijan and Türkiye through the Caspian Sea, as just today on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, near the city of Turkmenbashi was laid the first stone of a new power plant with a capacity of 1.574 MW, Trend informs.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people proposed to prepare a roadmap for developing cooperation in the energy sector of the Organisation of Turkic States countries.
In addition, the importance of the development and diversification of global logistics chains and transport corridors, as well as the formation of a unified transit network, was emphasised.
In this context, the attendees proposed measures to enhance the potential of the Middle Corridor and facilitate the development of additional multisectoral routes. One of the suggestions was establishing a Council of Railway Authorities of the Organisation, with its directorate in Uzbekistan. Additionally, there was a proposal to develop a Turkic Environmental Forum at the ministerial level.
At the X Summit of the Organisation of Turkic States in Astana, a number of documents were signed, including the Astana Act, the Declaration of the X Summit, Decisions on awarding the President of Uzbekistan, awarding the status of Financial Centres, adopting new flags, appointments, granting observer status, approving a day of remembrance, the Rules of Budget Management, developing "Regulations on Permanent Representatives", the Protocol on Cooperation and the Joint Action Plan on the implementation of the Transport Communication Programme for 2023-2027.
