Magtymguly Library in Kyiv on February 15, 2024, received a generous gift of Turkmen national treasures and books in various languages from the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan provided these cultural artifacts, representing the diverse cultural heritage and spiritual traditions of the Turkmen people, as reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine.
Elena Starodubova, head of the culture department of the Svyatoshinsky district state administration in Kyiv, Svetlana Gonda, director of the Centralized Library System "Svichado," and Elena Zubar, director of the Magtymguly Library expressed gratitude for the received exhibits, aimed at enriching the study and dissemination of the legacy of classical Turkmen poet Magtymguly.
The Magtymguly Museum will showcase examples of folk art, including intricate carpets crafted by Turkmen artisans, traditional women's jewelry, Turkmen clothing, headdresses, and authentic musical instruments such as "dutar," "gydzhak," "gopuz," and "reed pipe." The museum will also feature depictions of Magtymguly Pyragy in sculpture and artwork by talented Turkmen artists.
The museum collection and library fund have been enriched with Turkmen literature, including works by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Publications on the history, culture, and architecture of Turkmenistan, along with books about the great poet Magtymguly and his invaluable poetic legacy, have also been added.
During the meeting, plans for joint events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy's birth, an eminent classic of oriental poetry, were discussed.
