Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part Tuesday in a mass cycling event dedicated to World Health Day, according to official Turkmen media.
The event included the Chairman of the Mejlis, deputies of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and sectoral agencies, the mayor of Ashgabat, representatives of public organizations and the media, as well as university rectors. Ambassadors and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan also participated.
The cycling marathon, organized to mark the occasion, started at the “Bicycle” monument at the intersection of Chandybil Avenue and Bekreve Street and continued along Chandybil and Bitarap Turkmenistan avenues.
According to reports, during the ride, the president demonstrated a high level of physical fitness, setting an example for citizens in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The event concluded in the city center near Ruhyýet Palace.
Addressing participants, the president called for continued efforts to engage the population—especially youth—in regular physical activity and sports, and to promote a healthy lifestyle in society.
In celebration of World Health Day, mass cycling events were also held in Arkadag city and across all provinces. Activities included roundtable discussions, meetings, scientific and practical conferences, competitions, sports demonstrations, wellness and awareness campaigns, and cultural programs.
