The seventh meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation was held Thursday in Ashgabat. A series of bilateral documents was signed following the meeting, Turkmenistan’s official media reported.
The Turkmen side was led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. The Chinese delegation was headed by Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
The documents signed include:
- Protocol of the seventh meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation;
- General agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of China on the basic principles of cooperation in the gas sector;
- Cooperation program between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of China for 2026–2030;
- Agreement on the mutual establishment of cultural centers;
- Memorandum of understanding on cooperation in transport and logistics;
- Memorandum of understanding on cooperation in artificial intelligence between Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Communications and China’s National Development and Reform Commission;
- Program of scientific, technical and innovation cooperation for 2026–2028 between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and China’s Ministry of Science and Technology;
- Memorandum of understanding between the Institute of International Relations of Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry and China Foreign Affairs University;
- Agreement on establishing a joint Turkmen-Chinese training center in the energy sector between the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China’s Ministry of Education, and China University of Petroleum (Beijing);
- Memorandum of understanding between Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine on establishing a Turkmen-Chinese center for traditional Chinese medicine.
On the same day, an international scientific and practical conference titled “Turkmenistan — China: 20 Years of Strategic Cooperation in the Gas Sector” was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. The event brought together officials from профильных agencies of both countries, representatives of leading oil and gas companies, and international experts.
