An event dedicated to the 104th anniversary of Türkiye's Victory Day was held Monday at the residence of the Turkish ambassador in Ashgabat. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, as well as the mass media attended the event.
The Turkish military attache welcomed the guests and congratulated them on Victory Day and the Day of the Turkish Armed Forces.
Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Shener Jebeji also thanked the guests for attending the event. He said he had recently started his diplomatic duties in Turkmenistan and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to hold his first reception in the country. The Ambassador also read a congratulatory message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of Victory Day.
In his congratulatory message, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated the citizens of Türkiye, the Turkish Cypriot people and citizens living in different parts of the world on the 104th anniversary of the Great Victory. He noted the historical significance of this victory in the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye and said that the determination, courage and resilience demonstrated by the Turkish people 104 years ago remain an important source of inspiration for the country today.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov congratulated the participants on Türkiye's Victory Day and Şener Jebeji on his appointment as Ambassador of Türkiye to Turkmenistan. He noted that relations between the two countries are multifaceted and strategic in nature, adding that economic and humanitarian cooperation is developing and bilateral trade turnover is increasing. Cooperation in science, education, culture, tourism and sports was also noted as developing.
Türkiye's Victory Day is celebrated annually on Aug. 30 and is dedicated to the Great Victory achieved on Aug. 30, 1922, which paved the way for the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye. The day is also celebrated as the Day of the Turkish Armed Forces.
