Turkmenistan, Iran Focus on Boosting Economic Ties

Turkmen-Iranian business forum took place at the conference hall of the Archabil Hotel on Wednesday.

Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan Orazmyrat Gurbannazarov, speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the business forum, said that Turkmen-Iranian cooperation is expanding and that 2018 trade figures amounted to $560 million.

Turkmen Minister said that Turkmenistan-Iran bilateral cooperation is unlimited and emphasized that professional specialists will contribute to the growth of such cooperation. Gurbannazarov touched on the importance of preparing and implementing the Agreements for expanding trade. He also informed about the participation of 38 Iranian companies at the forum. "Mutual meetings will give impetus to the development of commodity circulation," added the Turkmen official.

 Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, head of the Iranian delegation, Mohammad Eslami expressed gratitude to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan in his speech at the forum and mentioned the successful holding of the first Caspian Economic Forum in August. Eslami said that Iran created a legislative framework in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the countries and noted that Iran supports cooperation in various fields.

Eslami drew attention to the fact that Iran and Turkmenistan are among the richest countries in the world in terms of energy resources. The Iranian Minister underlined the growth opportunities of bilateral cooperation in the industry.

The business forum hosted panels under the slogans "Development of trade and economic, business cooperation between the two countries" and "Bilateral cooperation in the field of transport and logistics."
