Modern Greenhouse Complexes Open in All Velayats of Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Thursday launched the opening of new greenhouse complexes in all velayats of the country. The commissioned greenhouses were built in the Kaka and Ak Bugday etraps of Ahal velayat, in the city of Turkmenbashi of Balkan velayat, in the Gorogly etrap of Dashoguz velayat, the Charjev etrap of Lebap velayat and the Sakarchage etrap of the Mary velayat.

The greenhouses built by representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (UIET) cover a total area of 35 hectares and are designed to produce 8,750 tons of vegetable products annually. Their commissioning resulted in the creation of around 400 new jobs, according to the country’s official media.

The agricultural complexes were constructed with the use of modern materials that have high thermal insulation and operational properties, meeting such an important criterion as environmental friendliness. Technological processes, including maintaining a certain temperature and light regime, air humidity, soil enrichment with nutrients, as well as irrigation through water-saving systems, are controlled using automated systems. The greenhouses include storage facilities equipped with refrigeration units for proper storage of the crops.

In a short span of time, the UIET members built and commissioned greenhouses on an area of over 400 hectares, according to the report. Last year, Turkmen businesses exported 37.75 thousand tons of tomatoes to foreign markets, which is 70% more compared to 2019. In two months of this year, the country’s private sector delivered 16 thousand tons of fresh tomatoes to other countries.

At the end of the opening ceremony, the heads of greenhouses that opened in the velayats received modern agricultural machinery on behalf of the Turkmen President.

A caravan with a cargo of products grown in the new greenhouses, commissioned in five velayats of the country, set off to supply these products to domestic and foreign consumers.
