Uzbekistan’s President Attends Iftar Hosted by Turkmen President

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov hosted Iftar at the Central mosque of the country in Gypjak. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in the capital on a working visit, also took part in the Iftar.

The muftis of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan also took part in the Iftar, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

Upon arrival at the Central mosque of Turkmenistan, the Leaders paid tribute to the memory of Saparmurat Niyazov in the Mausoleum of the First President of Turkmenistan. In the mausoleum, the muftis of the countries recited prayers from the Holy Quran.

Expressing condolences over the demise of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's father, the Head of Uzbekistan wished the Leader of Turkmenistan and his family members patience and fortitude in this difficult time. The Uzbek Leader also noted that it is a great honor for him to participate in the Iftar.

Thanking President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his condolences, the Turkmen Leader stressed that he highly appreciated and valued the fact that the President of Uzbekistan personally shared pain and sorrow in such difficult days as a true friend.

Iftar, which is a noble tradition in the holy month of Ramadan, was held in all mosques of Ashgabat and regions on Thursday.
