Solemn events dedicated to International Women's Day were held in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on Monday. Within their framework, with the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, ceremonies were held to honor mothers who gave birth and raised eight or more children.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, they were awarded the honorary title "Ene mähri". Also, families with many children were given keys to new apartments, the country’s official media reports.
The honorary title of "Ene mähri" was awarded to about three hundred residents of Turkmenistan.
On the eve of International Women's Day, the state structures, institutions and organizations, and enterprises held solemn ceremonies of presenting women with cash gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. By tradition, such gifts were given to all female citizens, without exception, including students, schoolgirls and pupils of preschool institutions.
Solemn ceremonies of honoring mothers who gave birth and raised eight or more children, who, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, were awarded the honorary title "Ene mähri", and handing over the keys to comfortable apartments to large families were also held in all province centers of the country.
These days, festive celebrations to mark the International Women's Day are held on the stage and concert venues of the capital and velayats.
