The Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asia countries and the Russian Federation kicked off on Thursday in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat, the Turkmen official media reports.
The forum, chaired by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, is attended by Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali and Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva.
The forum was preceded by a flower-laying ceremony at the Monument to the Constitution of Turkmenistan.
Then the participants of the Inter-Parliamentary Forum proceeded to the Congress Center of Turkmenistan.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in his congratulatory message to the forum participants, stated that the accession of Turkmenistan to international documents and the strengthening of the legal framework, first of all, had a positive effect on the expansion of the established constructive relations.
The Head of State expressed confidence that the current forum would become an effective platform for the exchange of views and, contributing to the strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between the Central Asian countries and Russia, would serve to further develop constructive multilateral relations of the participating countries.
