Design Exhibition and Forum Open in Turkmenistan

Ashgabat forum "Design-2022" and international exhibition "Design Without Borders" kicked off on Tuesday at the exhibition center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan in Turkmen capital.

The exhibition is part of Ashgabat's efforts to enter the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the Design category, the country’s official media reports.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in his congratulatory letter to participants of the events, said, "The international recognition of numerous constructions of the national design including historical and cultural values is an indisputable evidence that Ashgabat is strengthening its position among the most beautiful cities in the world. It is also proved by the fact that some of its buildings have made it into the Guinness Book of Records for originality of architecture."

The opening ceremony was attended by members of the government, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the country, representatives of international organizations and the media.

Dozens of exhibitors including representatives of leading foreign companies specializing in architecture and construction participate in the event.

The exhibition is also attended by businesses of the country and private producers. Çigildem, Aýbölek, Ýaşyl Ýyldyrym, Meşhur Interior, Erjel Begenç and many others presented their products and services at this exhibition. For the first time Özgertme", Ýurt Taslama, Eşret Mahabat company and Şekil fashion house are participating in the international fair.

The exhibition also featured a fashion show – demonstration of a new collection of clothes designed by Ashgabat Fashion House and experimental shops of the textile complexes of the country.

"Design-2022" forum, which started in the afternoon, was attended by young and leading architects, urban design specialists, journalists, students, as well as representatives from Turkey, the US, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
